Batu Caves is the most popular Hindu religious tourism

Batu Caves is located in Gombak District, Selangor State, about 13 kilometers from Kuala Lumpur City. Batu Caves is a place of worship for Hindus. This limestone cave was formed around 400 million years ago. The name Batu Caves just came from the name of the river that flows through the hill, namely Sungai Batu.

The Batu Caves Complex tourist destination consists of three main caves and several small caves located at an altitude of 100 meters from the ground. The largest cave is called Cathedral Cave or Temple Cave which has a ceiling about 100 meters high.

If you want to visit Batu Caves, the recommended transportation is by train. You just have to take the commuter train, namely the Tanah Melayu Train or KTM Komuter with the Sentul route. The rates are quite affordable, namely around 1 ringgit.

With a journey of around 45 minutes, the train can arrive at Batu Caves Station, which is the line expansion station after Sentul Station. At Batu Caves Station, you just have to look for the gate to Batu Caves which is the second entrance gate.

Batu Caves was originally a residential area. Batu Caves later turned into a place of worship for Hindus thanks to the services of K. Thamboosamy Pillai, a well-known figure in Malaysia and a tin entrepreneur of Tamil descent, India.

Pillai was inspired to dedicate a temple inside the cave to Lord Muruga. Therefore, you can find the statue of Lord Murugan at the front of the Batu Caves Temple in Batu Caves. Lord Murugan is the youngest son of Shiva and his wife, Parvati.
